Understanding Reality TV Vs. Real Life

If you’re one of the millions of viewers that faithfully watches networks like HGTV, you understand that these shows can be inspiring, as well as extremely addictive. But what actually goes on behind the scenes of these home transformation programs? A lot more than you realize…

It’s important to remember that when it comes to television, the number one goal is to impress and intrigue the viewer.  The homeowners of the episode may be footing the bill, but ultimately the network’s main concern is entertainment. With that being said, it is necessary to keep in mind that true interior design works much differently than that seen on television.  Projects usually aren’t completed in a few days or weeks, there are limitations when it comes to design software, pricing is completely different, and our teams are usually much smaller than the ones used in reality tv.

Reality television is meant for entertainment purposes only, so do not allow it to inflate your expectations when it comes to real life interior design.
